Laura Siffrin – Ocean-Inspired Original Paintings
Laura Siffrin paints the ever-changing language of the ocean — its depth, movement, and luminous energy. Through layers of color and expressive brushwork, her paintings capture the rhythm of water and the quiet strength it holds, inviting viewers to pause and feel both calm and wonder.
Growing up near the coast, Laura found inspiration sketching by the sea and in her beloved aunt’s deep love for the ocean and her art. That connection continues to guide her in the studio today, shaping a body of work that reflects both memory and renewal.
Each painting explores how light, color, and texture can mirror emotion — shifting between turbulence and stillness, reflection and clarity. Collectors often describe her pieces as meditative, finding in them the same balance and movement that define the ocean itself.
Laura’s work has been featured in juried exhibitions and collections across the United States, including a solo exhibition at OSHU Hatfield in 2022. Her paintings resonate with private collectors and museums alike for their emotional depth, technical mastery, and enduring connection to the natural world.

My Medium
I work in oils and acrylics, layering translucent colors to create depth and light that draw the viewer in. Each piece begins differently—sometimes with a loose sketch, sometimes from a neutral block-in—allowing the vision to emerge naturally. Every layer and brushstroke is part of my artistic process, shaping a unique world within each painting, including my original ocean paintings.
My Process
Every painting begins with a spark—an emotion, a vision, or a thoughtful plan. Some pieces unfold intuitively, while others grow from sketches, reference photos, or multiple sources of inspiration. For commissions, I draw from provided images and ideas, shaping them into a composition that feels personal and unique. Layers build gradually, revealing depth and nuance, until the canvas becomes a space alive with feeling, inviting viewers to pause and connect with the work of Laura Siffrin.
